Event Description

The seventh annual Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo), is being hosted by the Organization of American States (OAS), in close coordination with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), and in conjunction with more than 20 UN agencies and partners. It will strategically engage all development actors, including the private sector and civil society, to scale up concrete Southern-grown initiatives to help achieve the post-2015 sustainable development agenda.

The GSSD Expo is a one-of-a-kind platform for showcasing and scaling up development initiatives while leveraging the complementary strengths of all institutional partners in addressing global and regional challenges. As part of the Expo, the Society for International Development (SID)-Washington will convene a mini-forum session on Thursday, November 20 to explore ways that our organizations are working together towards a shared goal of eradicating extreme poverty. The panelists (to be determined) will focus on this question: “What will development cooperation look like once the development community transitions from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the as-of-yet undetermined Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?” Join us for this important and enlightening discussion on the future of development cooperation.
