Implementing CLA for Peacebuilding and Reconciliation Efforts in Nigeria's Middle Belt
This case study is about integrating collaborating, learning and adapting strategies in a program that aimed to increase the stability and resilience of settled farming communities in Nigeria's Middle Belt region facing insecurity and marginalization from nomadic herdsmen. Creative Associates' USAID/OTI-funded Nigeria Lake Chad Basin (NLCB) project adapted its existing CLA approach in its Northeast programming to help with peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts in the Middle Belt. With external collaboration, NLCB leveraged existing structures and new relationships and networks that were most relevant to helping solve the challenge. Pause and Reflect and learning sessions held continuously also facilitated NLCB's adaptive management and the pivots the project took in its programming. Finally, NLCB’s consistent monitoring and learning from data aided the project to respond and adapt to the changing environment.
