Facilitating Behavior Change: Social and Behavior Change and Market Systems

Event Details

Date and time

May 3, 2017

Host

ACDI/VOCA

Event Description

Changing behaviors—especially multiple behaviors across diverse actors in a network—can be challenging. Market systems are notoriously complex and difficult to transform.

If we want to change individual behaviors across the market system, where do we even begin?

Social and behavior change (SBC) tools, such as barrier analysis, behavior identification, and social and behavior change communication, all offer ways to foster behavior change. Yet these approaches are rarely used in market systems projects. On May 3rd, 2017, ACDI/VOCA’s virtual “Facilitating Behavior Change” Conference will introduce both SBC and market systems methodologies and explain how these approaches can mutually inform and strengthen each other.

This virtual conference will:

Explain the basic elements of both SBC tools and market systems approaches.

Identify opportunities where SBC and market systems approaches can be used in conjunction with each other to further collaboration moving forward.

Pinpoint common and potential pitfalls for integrating these methodologies.

“Facilitating Behavior Change” will feature guests from multiple organizations, all of which do innovative work in SBC and market systems.
