TechCon 2014 is an event co-hosted by USAID’s Higher Education Solutions Network and the Development Impact Lab (DIL) at UC Berkeley.
HESN’s Technical Convening (TechCon) 2014 is a unique convening of researchers and students, entrepreneurs and innovators, field practitioners, and private sector professionals focused on creative approaches to solution ideation, testing, and scaling for international development. TechCon 2014 will showcase the innovations emerging from the eight HESN Development Labs and the broader development and higher education communities focused on innovations for social good. TechCon 2014 will bring together these multisectoral stakeholders to energize science and technology solutions for development.
Program Highlights:
- Sessions and workshops for aspiring to mid-stage entrepreneurs, including interactive workshops building communication, pitching, and storytelling skills
- Opportunities to learn from industry experts and discuss development challenges with leading academics
- An interactive Innovation Marketplace where participants “invest” in new solutions, followed by a “Shark Tank” pitch competition
- TED–style keynotes and small group challenge sessions
- A networking reception and spontaneous “unconference” sessions
