Mapping the Development Journey
This brief paper identifies some key learning challenges faced by large Missions and donors, and discusses how these challenges may be addressed by using large-scale general population surveys. The paper provides a summary of the approach utilized by the Monitoring and Evaluation Support Project (MESP) in reponse to a USAID Jordan request to measure mission indicators in the Jordanian population and to explore a learning agenda to identify and better understand the determinants of these indicators. The paper also includes key details related to the processes for conducting the learning agenda discussions, developing and implementing the survey and the different ways in which the findings from the survey may be utilized.
