Description

The USAID Family-focused HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Activity has an approach of economic strengthening services that help support families to overcome the economic and stigma-related pressures faced by the children and families. With the involvement of Community Care Coalitions (CCCs), Implementing Partners (IPs) have been able to address the diverse needs of the children and families by using various economic strengthening activities.

To this end, Mary Joy Ethiopia (MJE) has been insisting on and monitoring the performance of Local Implementing Partners (LIPs) on resource mobilization to ensure the resource mobilization interventions are progressing as expected. However, the economic strengthening services provided for vulnerable children were not adequately captured by the existing CommCare platform in the previous reporting periods, preventing effective monitoring and providing feedback to the LIPs. The use of data by decision-makers to improve economic strengthening outcomes was limited.

Additionally, obtaining real-time performance data for evidence-based decision-making was challenging due to the limitations of the deployed CommCare dashboard in capturing economic strengthening activities. As a result, the Mary Joy Ethiopia USAID/FFHPCT OVC and MEAL teams conducted an assessment with the aim of creating a reliable data collection system that would empower the team to make evidence-based decisions.
